Texas Hold'em
Category: Beginners Guides.
Texas Hold’em is a familiar form of play that has made poker the most popular sport and TV entertainment. The most popular form of Hold’em poker is no limit, where the maximum bet is limited to the chips in front of you. The biggest poker tournaments today, including the World Series of Poker’s annual $ 10,000 World Championship Main Event, are played as No Limit Texas Hold’em.
If you are used to playing normal casino games such as roulette and black jack, you can read the article about Omaha Hold’em. For those unfamiliar with the game, I can recommend Texu because bluffing is best in this game! With just two cards in your hand, you can bluff weaker players out of the pot easily.
Other forms of Texas Hold’em
Texas Hold’em is also played in fixed limit and pot limit formats. In the former, the bet sizes are limited to two: the small bet and the big bet. The betting rounds progress as described above, but in the first two rounds the bet amount is a small bet, and in the turn and river betting rounds, the bet size is double, ie a big bet. The small bet is the size of the big blind, and the big bet is twice the size of the big blind.
In Pot Limit Hold’em, the bet size is limited to the size of the pot, as the name implies. The maximum raise is therefore determined by the situation, based on the pot at hand.
There are other variations of Texas Hold’em, but the above are the most common. One interesting and guaranteed action game is Super Texas Hold’em No Limit, where everyone is dealt three pocket cards. There is no limit to the maximum amount you can bet, and you can take advantage of as many of your pocket cards as you want. So Super Texas is a great cash game for gamblers’ evening parties!
